Our 2018 February Grant will assist in updating the Kizuka Hall Senior Center at Watsonville-Santa Cruz JACL, which serves Santa Cruz county. The Kizuka Hall Senior Center was built in the 1950s, and since then it has been hosting meetings, events and providing health information to its members.
We are pleased to announce our support of the Japanese American National Museum (JANM) with our grant. This grant is for computers and a new volunteer management system that will help museum managers and volunteers work more effectively. The grant will also improve accessibility for older adults by installing an ADA compliant electronic door for easier access to the museum.
“The greatest strength of the project is the community it has built. Japanese American seniors from all over Los Angeles come to the Far East Lounge to meet new friends, engage in new activities and socialize in their language.”
