Our Grant helps their project to document the history of Japanese American basketball. NBHA has doneseveral oral history video interviews including with the late Wat Misaka, the first person of color to play for the New York Knickerbockers in 1947. Our fund is to help with both pre-and post-interview production costs. This project makes the confinement experience relevant today by showing how the cultural values of the Issei and Nisei persist today through Japanese American basketball. These cultural values will help keep Japanese American basketball alive in the future and help ensure that Japanese Americans will continue to persist as a strong, ethnic American community.
